Job summary

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Multi Skilled Plumber to join our Estates team at Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

In this varied and rewarding role, you will carry out and oversee the maintenance, repair and installation of complex mechanical plant and equipment across Trust properties throughout Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. Working as part of a multi-skilled team, you will undertake the full range of duties associated with your core trade as a Plumber or Mechanical Engineer, while supporting a wide range of estates maintenance activities.

Key responsibilities include delivering planned preventative maintenance (PPM), responding to reactive repairs, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of building services systems. You may also act as an Authorised Person (AP) in one of the following specialist areas: Water, Medical Gases, Mechanical Pressure Systems, HVAC, or Decontamination.

The role will involve issuing permits to work, coordinating and carrying out system shutdowns in a compliant and fully documented manner, and supporting both maintenance programmes and major capital projects.

Main duties of the job

Ensure that Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and associated work is implemented efficiently to specified requirements and aid with improving these requirements on a continuous basis.

To undertake the servicing of plumbing and mechanical plant as per the PPM schedule and works issued by your Estates Officer.

To carry out reactive repairs to plumbing, heating and ventilation systems to include:

General fault finding and rectification following reported breakdownsThe repair/replacement/installation of general plumbing fixtures such as taps, WC's, basins, supply services and waste pipework, valves and associated fittingsDrainageCommercial Heating SystemsCommercial BoilersVented and unvented hot and cold water and heating systemsAHU's (Air Handling Units)Fan motors (supply and extract)Smoke/Fire DampersBooster PumpsMedical Gasses
