Job summary

The Safeguarding Specialist Nurse/Practitioner will be part of a service dedicated to supporting and promoting the welfare of children and adults. The role involves assisting the Named Nurse/Professional to embed a Family Approach towards safeguarding across Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare (the Trust) for Specialist Services to include community CAMHS, inpatient CAMHS and Adults Forensic units across the Trust being based in a hub within Safeguarding Support Team. There will also be a requirement to provide generic safeguarding support as part of the Safeguarding Support Team. The post holder will actively contribute to family approach, safeguarding training across the Trust, preparing and delivering training sessions for staff groups across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will also work in the multiagency arena supporting and working with the Named Nurse/Professional as required in the completion of safeguarding reviews, internal and external, including Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews (CSPR), Domestic Abuse Related Death Review (DARDR), Adult Safeguarding Reviews.

A key aspect of the role is to provide tenacious safeguarding leadership, working within multi-agency frameworks to improve outcomes for children, young people, adults, and families. This includes identifying and addressing risks, supporting learning, and maintaining the Trust's reputation within statutory frameworks.

The post holder will also provide formal expert supervision and support to teams and services across the Trust, working within governance frameworks and escalating safeguarding concerns to the Named Nurse/Professional for resolution.
