Job summary

The post holder will be a key member of the Health Board's management of dental services working within the Primary, Community and Therapies Service Group (PCTSG), providing professional medical/dental advice, leadership, innovation, and support to ensure that the highest standard of clinical care is delivered within the Health Board. This includes the development and leadership within dental collaboratives, clusters, the Dental Training Unit, Dental Practice Advisors and the Dental Single Point of Access.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide leadership and direction for general dental services to support delivery of GDS contracts and the training and management of DFTs in the DTU. In addition, the post holder will lead and manage the HB's DPAs. The post holder will also lead dental collaboratives and represent dentistry in the relevant cluster frameworks. The post holder will contribute to remodelling of care pathways to achieve better outcomes for patients and service users, with a focus on delivering care and support as close to home as possible and making best use of GDS resources and facilities.

The post holder will provide clinical leadership to medical/dental staff across the Health Board working in GDS services promoting personal, professional and service development and building effective working partnerships with individuals and organisations in the local health and social care community.The post holder will support the development and delivery of effective professional performance and standards within the HB's clinical governance systems for those on the GDC register and DPL providing contracted or salaried services within SBUHB.
