The chef will manage a team dedicated to providing nutritionally balanced, high-quality meals for residents while adhering to budget constraints. Key responsibilities include developing menu plans, ordering food supplies, supervising kitchen staff, and maintaining hygiene standards. A successful candidate will have experience managing a busy kitchen and a minimum of five years in the culinary field. Essential qualifications include an NVQ 3 in Food Production or equivalent, and knowledge of food safety legislation and dietary needs. The position requires traveling to various homes in London and Surrey.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Regional Bank Chef, your primary responsibility will be supporting the daily operations of the culinary department. You will manage and guide a culinary team dedicated to providing nutritionally balanced, comprehensive, and high-quality meals that enhance the overall well-being of the residents while staying within budget. The role will involve travelling to various homes across the north.

Other responsibilities will include:

• Prepare nutritionally balanced menu plans for approval by the Home Manager, which provide varied, nutritious, and appetising meals for residents. Take account of any special dietary needs and retain records for inspection purposes.
• Place food orders, subject to appropriate levels of authority, with approved suppliers, complying with procedures to maintain proper stock levels and control, ensuring good quality provisions are purchased within agreed budget limits
• Supervise and direct the work of other kitchen staff and the Host team, and instruct and demonstrate simple food preparation activities to unqualified staff.
• Understand the Avery Food Safety Management system and demonstrate the principles of safe food handling to ensure all food preparation undertaken in the kitchen is to the highest standards of hygiene

Our ideal candidate must have :

• Experience in managing a busy kitchen and a minimum of 5 years' culinary experience
• Knowledge of health and safety, as well as current food safety legislation. Knowledge of COSHH and managing the cleaning of the culinary department to 5-star rating standards
• NVQ 3 in Food Production or equivalent/City and Guilds 706-1 706-2 Catering qualifications /Trained in IDDSI /textured modified diets
• Ability to work as part of a team and demonstrate leadership qualities
