Job summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join the Newcastle Gateshead Neighbourhood Team on a 12-month secondment.

This is an opportunity to lead and support high-profile commissioning priorities that improve outcomes, service quality and value for money for communities across Newcastle and Gateshead. Working with a high degree of autonomy, you will help turn strategic priorities into deliverable commissioning plans and ensure that progress, risks, dependencies and outcomes are actively managed.

Please note this post is only accepting applications from current staff of North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board and staff members of North of England Commissioning Support (NECS).

Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities will include:

Leading and supporting commissioning plans, service reviews and pathway redesign;

Monitoring contracts, expenditure, performance, quality and delivery against agreed outcomes;

Identifying and escalating risks, issues and dependencies;

Using evidence, insight and evaluation to support improvement and informed decision-making;

Providing timely specialist commissioning advice and guidance; and

Building effective relationships with local authorities, NHS trusts, primary care, VCSE organisations and other system partners

Job description

You will be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of commissioning and contracting, experience of delivering projects or service improvement in a complex environment, sound analytical and financial awareness, and excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills. You will be collaborative, organised and confident in managing competing priorities while maintaining high standards of quality and governance.

Our Integrated Care Board (ICB) is the largest in the country.

The ICB is responsible for ensuring that high quality and safe health services are accessible to all of our communities. It has a wide range of functions, including; promoting integration of health and care services, improving peoples health and well-being, reducing health inequalities.

With a £6.6 billion budget and a workforce of 170,000 people across the North East and North Cumbria. As well as strategic functions, ICB staff also work at place level with local health and wellbeing boards in each of our 14 local authority areas. These teams also work alongside our 67 primary care networks which are groups of local GP practices, social care teams and other community- based area providers.

The ICB works with our Provider Collaborative too, this includes the 11 NHS Foundation Trusts in the region, to deliver our shared priorities.
