Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, motivated and dynamic Physiotherapist to join our Community Response Service (CRS) Team as a Locality Team Lead for the Berwick CRS Physiotherapy Team.

The Berwick CRS Physiotherapy Team provide community rehabilitation with an aim to enable patients with a wide variety of conditions to be as independent as possible within their own environment, by providing specialist physiotherapy assessment and interventions. The team is comprised of registered Physiotherapists and Clinical Support Workers.

This role includes managerial responsibility for the Berwick team, working closely alongside and cross covering Locality Team Leads for Alnwick, Hexham and Blyth. The successful post holder will be expected to carry a clinical caseload and offer clinical support with complex cases.

Main duties of the job

To provide strong clinical and managerial leadership to the Berwick CRS Physiotherapy Team to deliver safe, effective and patient-centred care.

This role will involve leading and developing the CRS Physiotherapy Service, helping to deliver the NHS 10-Year Plan, driving service improvement initiatives, supporting workforce development and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues, local authority and partner organisations to enhance patient outcomes and experience.

Job description

• Provide line management, supervision, appraisal, support, guidance and training to Physiotherapists and Clinical Support Workers.
• Responsibility for finance, performance, governance and human resources.
• Responsibility for investigating incidents and complaints.
• Responsibility for budget management, resource allocation, workforce planning and recruitment.
• Ensuring all clinical services are compliant in relation to patient safety and quality standards, in line with relevant professional, Trust and NICE guidelines.
• To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.
• Responsibility for managing and maintaining team roster.
• Expectation to travel between trust sites for meetings.
• Contribute to service development.
• Triage and prioritise new referrals received into the service.
• Responsibility for a designated varied caseload of patients.
• To undertake a comprehensive assessment of patients including those with diverse or complex presentations using clinical reasoning skills.
• Support patients with individualised goal setting, education and care plans to work towards fulfilling their potential in a goal orientated way.
• Working in partnership with patients, relatives, reablement staff, and externally with other agencies.
• Completing all required training and ensuring own continued professional development.
• Providing clinical support and advice to the team.
• Support delivery of high-quality, evidence-based physiotherapy service within community setting.
• Drive quality improvement, service transformation and innovation
• Deputising for the Community Physiotherapy Clinical Manager
