Job summary

Senior Clinical Fellow Medicine (IMT3+ level) - Care of Elderly Surrey & Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking to appoint enthusiastic and motivated IMT3-level (or equivalent/higher) Resident Doctors to join our General Medicine workforce.

This post has been developed to strengthen registrar-level clinical capacity across the Trust and offers excellent exposure to acute and general medicine within a supportive and dynamic environment.

The successful candidate will be based within a medical specialty for a 6 monthly placement, with opportunities to rotate through:

• Acute Medicine
• General Medicine
• Geriatric Medicine
• Stroke Medicine
• Cardiology
• Endocrinology
• Respiratory Medicine

In addition, the post-holder will participate in the General Medicine on-call rota (approximate frequency 1:12), contributing to the acute medical take. Also, please see below:

• Have>=2 years' experience at SHO level or abovein Acute and/or General Internal Medicine
• Full MRCP or have completed and passed MRCP part 2
• Are working at, or capable of working at,IMT3+ / Registrar level
• Demonstrate strong clinical judgement and decision-making skills in acute care
• Are confident managing complex, frail, and multi-morbid patients
• Show excellent communication, leadership, and team-working skills
• Are committed to delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centred care

Main duties of the job

• Lead and manage the acute medical take, assessing and treating acutely unwell adult patients in an emergency setting
• Provide senior decision-making support for junior colleagues and contribute to safe patient flow
• Take responsibility for ongoing care of complex medical patients within the assigned specialty
• Lead ward rounds and coordinate multidisciplinary team input to ensure high-quality patient care
• Liaise effectively with other specialties and support timely referrals and escalation
• Contribute to teaching and supervision of junior medical staff
