Job summary

We are seeking to appoint a new Operations Director to our Family and Clinical Support Services Division. The Family and Clinical Support Services Division is one of three operational divisions in the Trust. It covers all aspects of Family and Clinical Support Services including Maternity, Child Health, therapies and private patients across the Trust's three hospital sites Basingstoke, Winchester and Andover. Total divisional budget to manage £168m and a staff group of 1900.

Main duties of the job

As the Director of Operations you will lead the day to day operational management of the Division, ensuring it meets the needs of our patients, and achieves set and agreed standards, financial targets and levels of performance. You will be responsible to assure performance in quality, operational standards and delivery by providing and ensuring robust and visible leadership to operational teams, ensuring safe, high quality and efficient service delivery. You will also seek, share and drive opportunities to deliver operational performance and transformational improvement, contributing to the overall success of the Division.

The successful individual will be an astute, driven, flexible and determined individual who has a proven history of successful relationship building in order to deliver our strategy. You will have a strong track record of delivery and be considered inspirational and engaging by both staff and external partners.

Job description

This pivotal role is designed for an exceptional and inspirational leader with a passion for delivering outstanding, patient-centred care across a diverse portfolio of family, diagnostic and clinical support services. As Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust continues its journey of transformation and improvement, the Operations Director for FCSS will play a critical role in shaping future service delivery, improving patient outcomes and ensuring the long-term sustainability of care.

The Operations Director is a senior member of the Trust Management Team and, alongside the Divisional Medical Director and Divisional Chief Nurse, forms the triumvirate leadership team for FCSS. The post holder will provide visible, values-led leadership and will be responsible for the Divisions strategic direction, operational performance, financial stewardship and transformation agenda.

The post holder will hold responsibility for the delivery of safe, effective, responsive, and financially sustainable services across the FCSS portfolio. This includes womens health, maternity, child health, pathology, radiology, pharmacy, therapies, outpatients, private patients andthe mortuary service.

Working closely with clinical leaders, corporate colleagues and system partners, the Operations Director will lead the development and implementation of service models that improve access, reduce variation, enhance productivity and deliver better outcomes. The role will require strong management of interdependent services whose performance affects pathways across the whole Trust.

The Operations Director will champion a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, inclusion and excellence, empowering multidisciplinary teams while ensuring that FCSS contributes fully to the Trusts strategic objectives, operational delivery, financial sustainability and long-term clinical strategy.
