Job summary

The Physiotherapy assistants will work alongside and support the qualified physiotherapists; The post holder will assist in the rehabilitation of Service users within the Harplands Hospital who are experiencing reduced mobility or musculoskeletal problems. The Post holder will support service users who are experiencing mental health and Physical health issues.

The post holder will work under the guidance of Physiotherapists and ward manager.

The post holder will predominantly work between 8-4 with some flexibility required around service user need.

Main duties of the job

Key Duties/Responsibilities

Taking patients to therapy or treatments

Assist in the delivery of care plans Recording Treatment activity in electronic patient records

Consulting with nursing staff and Physiotherapists

Prioritising patients in caseload Preparing equipment and reporting any defects Assisting service users during sessions with Physiotherapists

Supporting service users in the use of aids and appliances. This will include demonstrating how the support aids work

To support group activities within all wards.

Liaise and communicate with other agencies and community teams where necessary on behalf of the service user, under the supervision of the Physiotherapist . Must be able to adapt communication style to service users where there are barriers to understanding.

To be able to assess service user in the use of walking aids, including risk assessment.

To identify and solve wheelchair, orthotics or mobility aids problems and to contact necessary services.

Follow departmental policies, procedures and SOPs and participate in their amendment

To monitor and order stock for Physiotherapists.
