Job summary
Rising Brook Surgery is looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the practice as a medical administrators (reception). As a member of frontline staff you will be the first point of contact for our service users and visitors. You will need to be non-judgmental with excellent communication and listening skills.
You must be able to deal objectively and professionally in a calm and approachable manner when liaising with service users, staff, healthcare professionals and outside agencies. Prioritising a busy workload, being a good team player and possessing the ability to deal with a wide range of clerical and administration duties in a busy environment is also required.
The role requires flexibility to meet the need of the practice. There may be occasions when additional hours are required to provide holidays and sickness cover. Hours to be worked flexibly between 7.45am and 6.30pm, Monday to Friday, with the addition of 7am start and 8pm finishes some evenings and weekend work with flu and covid clinic (seasonal).
The working hours would be 32.5 hours per weeks. The working pattern is:
- Monday: 7:45am to 6:30pm (30-minute unpaid break)
- Tuesday: 2:00pm to 8:00pm
- Wednesday: 7:45am to 6:30pm (30-minute unpaid break)
- Thursday: Day off
- Friday: 12:30pm to 6:30pm
Main duties of the job
To ensure the smooth day to day running of the Reception area, ensuring Reception duties are completed efficiently and adhere to the guidelines that are laid down by doctors and management.
To ensure that patients are received assisted and directed appropriately in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

We are a welcoming, friendly team based in Stafford with approx. 8800 patients registered. Our clinical team consists of 3 GP Partners, 2 Long-term Locum GP, 1 Salaried GP, 2 Advanced Clinical Practitioners, 1 Practice Nurse Lead/Advanced Clinical Practitioner, 2 Practice Nurses, 1 Healthcare Assistant and 1 Phlebotomist. We have 2 Practice Managers who work across all of our Practices, 1 Reception Manager, 12 Medical Administrators working over both sites. We are also a training Practice. All of our employees are hard-working, and we all strive to deliver excellent patient care at all times.
