Hwb Level 2 Teaching Assistant - Abersychan Comprehensive SchoolCouncil

Abersychan Comprehensive School 27.5 hours/week £27,709 - £29,542 Pro Rata | Grade 4
Posted 2 October 2026 Closing date 8 October 2026

Thank you for your interest in applying for the position of Hwb Teaching Assistant at Abersychan School. This is an exciting opportunity to join the school as it widens its provision to support students with Additional Learning Needs, particularly those with social, emotional and behavioural needs. Abersychan School recently established a partnership with our local Noddfa Church in the development of our offsite ‘Hwb’ provision, to improve educational experiences for a small group of students in years 9, 10 and 11.

Abersychan School is an 11-16 co-educational comprehensive school which meets the needs of children of all abilities. We are a school that is committed to ensuring that all our young people are happy, successful and ready for their lives beyond school. Our expectations and standards are high. We have a highly committed and caring staff who are dedicated to ensuring each child achieves their personal best. The school currently has 710 students, 40 teachers and 43 members of support staff. The school serves an area of significant socio-economic deprivation, with 31% of students eligible for free school meals and 51% of students living within the 20% most deprived areas of Wales.

The aims of the school are delivered through a strong pastoral system, a commitment to providing high quality learning experiences and an extensive range of sporting, cultural, musical and extracurricular activities. The students are happy, hard-working and positive about the school. They genuinely are an asset to our community and are incredibly friendly. They want to receive a high-quality education and to become successful students. We have fantastic parents and governors who are highly supportive of the school's efforts to provide the very best education.

If you are excited by the prospect of playing a significant role in helping us achieve our ambitions, have a belief that all students, no matter what their background or ability, can achieve and have a passion for providing an outstanding education, then, we would love to hear from you! In return, we will guarantee you the very best level of support.

In the meantime, should you wish to receive further information or would like to visit the school, please do not hesitate to contact Assistant Headteacher, Frances Page, via [email protected].
