ABOUT THE ROLE Your focus as Sous Chef will be to support the head chef in leading a culinary team that provides a nutritionally balanced, comprehensive, and high-quality culinary service, which contributes to the overall well-being of the residents and is achieved within budget. Other responsibilities will include: Preparing modified diets that look appealing and are well-balanced and in accordance with IDDSI guidance. Supervising and directing the work of culinary staff, as directed by the Head Chef, providing instruction and demonstration to unqualified

Main duties of the job

The Sous Chef role at Avery Healthcare requires individuals to support the head chef in leading a team that provides high-quality culinary service. Sous Chefs will be responsible for preparing modified diets per IDDSI guidance and ensuring the culinary staffs work is supervised and directed appropriately. An understanding of safe food handling principles is required, and supporting team members in understanding the Avery Food safety management system is crucial. Successful candidates must live Avery Healthcare's values of caring, support, and honesty and possess at least one year of catering experience alongside a relevant catering qualification such as City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or an NVQ equivalent. Adaptability and a willingness to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice are also essential.

Your focus asSous Chefwill be tosupportthe head chef in leading a culinary team that provides a nutritionally balanced, comprehensive,and high-quality culinary service, which contributes to the overall well-being of the residents and is achieved withinbudget.

Other responsibilitieswillinclude:

• Preparing modified diets that look appealing and are well-balanced and in accordance with IDDSI guidance.
• Supervising and directing the work of culinary staff, as directed by the Head Chef, providing instruction and demonstration to unqualified staff on simple food preparation activities.
• Understandingthe principles of safe food handling to ensure that all food preparation undertaken in the kitchen meets the highest hygiene standards.
• Supporting all culinary team members in fully understanding the Avery Food safety management system.
