Main duties of the job
Answer incoming patient telephone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
Handle a wide range of patient queries efficiently and sensitively Book, amend, and cancel appointments using the EMIS system.
Accurately navigate patients to the appropriate clinician or service (signposting).
Manage general administrative queries and provide support where required
Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality at all times
Work collaboratively with clinical and administrative teams to ensure smooth service delivery
Job description
At OneMedical Group, we are looking for a GP Call Handler to join our team at Brooklands Health Centre in Milton Keynes. As a first point of contact for patients, you will listen carefully, respond sensitively to their queries and help them access the right care and support.
You will be part of a supportive, busy team where clear communication, accurate records and a calm approach all help patients receive a professional and responsive service. If you enjoy working with people and can stay organised when demand is high, we would love to hear from you.
Your Role and Responsibilities As a GP Call Handler, you will provide a helpful first point of contact and support the smooth running of the practice.
Your day-to-day will include:
- Patient Calls: Answering incoming calls professionally and courteously, listening to patients and handling a wide range of queries with sensitivity.
- Appointments: Booking, amending and cancelling appointments accurately using EMIS.
- Care Navigation: Helping patients access the most appropriate clinician or service and explaining the next steps clearly. Administration: Responding to general administrative queries and supporting the wider team where needed.
- Records and Confidentiality: Keeping patient information accurate and up to date while handling sensitive information appropriately.
- Teamwork: Working closely with clinical and administrative colleagues to provide a consistent, patient-focused service.
