Main duties of the job

As a Staff Nurse within our Intensive Therapy Unit, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality care to critically ill patients with complex medical, surgical and cardiac needs. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will monitor and assess patients, respond to changing clinical conditions and contribute to the delivery of safe, effective and patient-centred care.

You will support patients and their families throughout their critical care journey, ensuring excellent communication and a compassionate approach at all times. We are seeking a compassionate, motivated and highly professional Staff Nurse to join our Intensive Therapy Unit at London Bridge Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to work within one of London's leading private hospitals, caring for patients with complex medical, surgical and cardiac conditions within a dynamic critical care environment.

As a Staff Nurse within the ITU, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centred care while working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will play a key role in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care for critically ill patients, ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality and clinical excellence are maintained at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, effective and evidence-based nursing care to critically ill patients.
• Undertake comprehensive patient assessments and continuously monitor patient conditions.
• Develop, implement and evaluate individualised care plans in partnership with the wider multidisciplinary team.
• Recognise and respond promptly to changes in patient condition, escalating concerns appropriately.
• Safely manage and administer medications and intravenous therapies in accordance with hospital policies and professional standards.
• Operate and monitor specialist critical care equipment and technologies.
• Maintain accurate, timely and comprehensive patient records.
• Support patients and their families through complex and challenging care journeys, providing clear communication and emotional support.
• Participate in multidisciplinary ward rounds, handovers and care planning discussions.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits and service development activities.
• Ensure compliance with professional, regulatory and organisational standards.
• Promote patient safety, infection prevention and risk management best practices.
• Actively participate in ongoing professional development, training and competency programmes.
• Support and contribute to a positive team culture that values collaboration, respect and continuous learning.
