We are seeking a Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly and supportive District Nursing team with a focus on Phlebotomy in Oxford.

As part of the City Phlebotomy Team, you will provide essential phlebotomy services to housebound patients in their own homes, working closely with the District Nursing Team. This role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

While previous phlebotomy experience is desirable, it is not essential, as full training will be provided.

We have full time and part time opportunities available up to 37.5 hours per week. The service core hours are Monday- Friday 8.00-16.00.

Applicants must have a full valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle for work. Adjustments can be considered in line with the Equality Act 2010 where required.

Main duties of the job

• Deliver an efficient and effective phlebotomy service to housebound patients registered with a GP in Oxford.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure timely and appropriate referrals.
• Adapt to the needs of unpredictable patient visits and provide a high standard of care.
• Prepare patients for blood sampling, ensuring their identity is verified and consent is obtained.
• Perform phlebotomy procedures following best practices to minimize discomfort, pain, and the risk of infection.
• To keep your knowledge and skills up to date and participate in educational activities that maintains and develops your performance.
• Be accountable for the prioritisation of own workload and seek support where necessary.
