Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our CAT Team on a secondment as Clinical nurse specialist.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) will provide high-quality, patient-centred specialist cancer nursing care within the CAT Team, working as part of the multidisciplinary team to support patients across the cancer pathway from diagnosis through treatment, follow-up and ongoing care.

The post holder will act as a key point of contact for patients and carers, offering expert clinical advice, coordination of care and emotional support, while ensuring care is delivered in line with national cancer standards, NICE guidance and Trust policies. The role contributes to timely pathway coordination, MDT working, and the delivery of safe, effective and compassionate cancer services.

Working 22.5 hours per week, the CNS will manage a defined caseload, undertake nurse-led clinics and patient reviews, support outpatient and MDT activity, and work collaboratively with medical, allied health and support staff to optimise patient outcomes and experience. The role is integral to maintaining service quality, continuity of care, and meeting operational and performance requirements within the CAT Team.

• Provide specialist Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) care to patients within the CAT Team across the cancer pathway.
• Act as a key point of contact for patients and carers, offering clinical advice, support and information.
• Coordinate patient care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, including participation in MDT meetings.
• Undertake nurse-led clinics, patient reviews and follow-up, including telephone and face-to-face contacts.
• Support timely pathway management, ensuring compliance with national cancer standards and Trust policies.
• Contribute to service delivery, quality improvement and maintenance of safe, effective and compassionate care.

Working as part of the multidisciplinary team, the post holder will deliver high standards of patientcentred care, coordinate complex pathways, and provide clinical leadership within their area of expertise.

The role involves managing a defined caseload, acting as a key point of contact for patients and carers, and contributing to safe, effective and timely service delivery in line with national cancer standards, NICE guidance and Trust policies.
