We are seeking to recruit a Band 5 RGN to join our fantastic multi-disciplinary teams within the hospital. The Primary Healthcare service at Wathwood Hospital coordinates, supports and delivers physical healthcare to all patients across the Hospital.

The services provided are in line with direction and guidance from the Department of Health and NICE. These include full health reviews - including asthma and diabetes, a visiting GP and Practice Nurse, Podiatry, Optician, Dental, Physiotherapy, healthy lifestyles, smoking cessation, sexual health and liaison with other wider specialist services

Patients are encouraged to work with the Primary Healthcare team to learn about their physical health and wellbeing.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate and highly motivated nurse with General Health experience to join our team, in a challenging but rewarding role, to make a difference to the lives of our patients.

The PHC suite is currently open Monday to Friday 9-5 with a view to expending opening times to evening and weekends. You must be an RGN or completing a qualification in general nursing and be registered with the NMC. An interest of working in Mental Health is essential and combining your RGN qualification with an understand and compassion for mental health would be required. Flexible working and part-time working are available.

You will be required to complete mandatory training to assist your professional development.

Job description

As a RGN working in PHC at Wathwood you will be required to:

Take charge of clinics and care delivery within the Primary Healthcare team, provide guidance and support to nursing teams on the wards and ensure patients receive a high standard of individualised patient care which assists their recovery.

Work within Hospital and Trust policies, procedures and protocols.

Communicate with line managers and members of the MDT.

Act as a positive role model to maintain standards in the team.

Engage in professional development.

Be keen, motivated and willing to be involved in development projects.

Support the Primary Healthcare Manager and Team Leader to achieve required standards of practice. Work within a small PHC team which currently consists of registered and unqualified staff within the department (approximately 6-8 staff) to provide physical care to a ward-based group of patients.

Support a team of visiting professionals providing specific patient care activities and clinics.

Engage in health promotion events and teaching for staff and patients.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.
