From 1 October 2026, Fernville Surgery will take over the management of Parkwood Surgery in Hemel Hempstead. As part of this exciting new chapter for the practice, we are looking to welcome enthusiastic Salaried GPs to work at the Parkwood Surgery site,with the benefit of the well-established management, experience and support of Fernville Surgery.

Based in West Hertfordshire, with excellent transport links to London and easy access to the M1, Parkwood Surgery serves a diverse population of approximately 16,000 patients and offers an excellent environment in which to develop a rewarding career in general practice.

We are particularly keen to hear from GPs who are enthusiastic about working as part of a supportive team and who would welcome the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development and success of Parkwood Surgery under its new management.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated GPs to join us for 5 to 9 sessions per week.

The successful candidate/s will provide high-quality, patient-centred care through a mixture of 15-minute face-to-face, telephone and online consultations. The role includes routine and urgent care appointments, participation in duty doctor and triage sessions, and the opportunity to develop continuity of care through your own patient list.

You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team and contribute to clinical meetings, quality improvement initiatives and the ongoing development of practice services.

Job description

• Participate in duty doctor and triage responsibilities, managing same-day and urgent patient demand.
• Hold and manage a personal patient list, providing continuity of care where appropriate.
• Provide high-quality, patient-centred primary care services to the practice population. Undertake face-to-face, telephone and online consultations as appropriate.
• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions in line with current clinical guidelines.
• Prescribe safely and effectively in accordance with professional and regulatory standards.
• Maintain accurate and contemporaneous clinical records at all times. Participate in practice clinical meetings and multidisciplinary team working.
• Contribute to safeguarding responsibilities for children and vulnerable adults.
• Support the training and development of GP trainees and other healthcare professionals where appropriate.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and the ongoing development of practice services.
