Innovative Flood Resilience Project ManagerCouncil

City of York Council is seeking an experienced project manager to join its Flood Risk Management team.

Reporting to the Flood Risk Manager you will lead an exciting Natural Flood Risk management project seeking to ensure the long term blended financial investment into NFM for the region and, secure funding for staff and targeted NFM delivery from 2029 onwards, in line with the prioritised programme of delivery (2027-2037).

You will have a working knowledge and experience of flood risk management or working with natural processes at a catchment scale, candidates will be able to demonstrate experience of project management and delivery across a number of key projects.

You will provide the day to day management and set the strategic direction for the project which will involve liaison with consultants, flood risk professionals, academics and a wide range of partnerships delivering environmental and biodiversity improvements across the River Ouse catchment.

As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express themselves fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
