Job summary

• Toassistthe registeredmidwifein the delivery of high quality and person-canteredcare.
• To provide fundamentalmidwiferycare
• To carry out limited clinical observations and undertake a range of activities underdirect or indirect supervision by a registeredmidwife, having been assessed asdeemedcompetentin the activitiesrequired.
• Tomaintainhighclinicalstandards
• Tohelpmaintainacleanandsafewardenvironment.
• Tocontributestowardsthe department andorganisationin the provision of a safeandcaring environment.
• Thepostholdermayberequiredtoworkanywherewithin theTrust.

Key working relationships include all members of the multi-professional team, includingnursingandmedicalstaff, alliedhealthprofessionalsandrelevant supportworkers.

Main duties of the job

• Liaiseswithmembersoftheteamwithintheward/department,to ensurecareisdeliveredtothepatientbotheffectivelyandefficiently.
• Updatesregisteredstaffinatimelymannerofanydeteriorationofthepatient'sclinicalcondition.
• Maintainsconfidentialitythroughout allcommunication.
• Maintainseffectivecommunicationsbetweenpatients,theirrelatives/carersandtheteamwithin thedepartmentunderthe directionofaregisteredmidwife.
• Welcomingpatientsandtheirrelativestotheward/department.
• Awareness and understanding of patient-by-patient passports around care needs,supportinganddemonstrating1:1/enhancedcaresupervisionusingtactandempathy, supporting communication through alternative meansi.e.picture boards,whiteboardsor other.Alwaysproviding patientreassurance.
