Job summary

To ensure the efficient and timely procurement of medicines for the Northumbria Trust as a whole and to provide supervision and guidance to the Pharmacy Procurement Officers with emphasis on Homecare Medicines Service.

Main duties of the job

• To contribute to the efficient and effective delivery of medicines to all patients and customers.
• To process orders and invoices and provide guidance and leadership to a team of procurement officers with an emphasis on Homecare Services.
• To manage the workflow of the Pharmacy Homecare Team ensuring that prescriptions, invoices and queries are processed in a timely manner.
• To work directly with the Pharmacy Technician Specialist for Medicines Homecare and help resolve issues when necessary.

Job description

The Pharmacy Higher Procurement Officer Homecare will work closely with the PTS Homecare to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of the medicines homecare service to patients of Northumbria Healthcare.

You will be responsible for managing the workflow of the pharmacy homecare team, provide leadership and guidance to a team of procurement officers with an emphasis on homecare services, provide day to day supervision and co-ordinate work. You will ensure that prescriptions, invoices and queries are processed in a timely manner and work directly with the PTS for Medicines Homecare and help resolve issues when necessary.

You will work with the PTS for Medicines Homecare on and be involved in the development of procedures which are relevant to your area of work.

You will be responsible for the training of the Procurement team on the use of SOPs and participate in the monitoring and review of SOPs specific to the Procurement process and feedback any issues or potential service developments.
