Job summary
Pike view- Dr Malhotra & Partners require a new team member to join our existing reception team, we are looking for an enthusiastic, well organised member to help us continue to achieve high standards in delivering Primary Care to our patients.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be responsible for being the first point of contact for patients and ensuring they are directed to the appropriate clinical team or service. The role requires someone who can multitask, remain calm and organised under pressure, and work effectively to meet the demands and deadlines of a busy reception environment.
Previous experience in reception or customer service, preferably within primary care, would be desirable. However, full training will be provided on our clinical system, EMIS, as well as the practice's processes and procedures.

Main Duties
- Deal with patients by telephone and face-to-face at reception, providing a friendly, professional and helpful service.
- Book appointments and direct/triage patients to the appropriate clinical personnel or service.
- Take and accurately record messages for clinical and administrative staff.
- Process prescription requests in accordance with practice procedures.
- Monitor practice emails and action or forward correspondence as appropriate.
- Order pathology supplies and maintain appropriate stock levels.
- Photocopy, scan and upload patient documents and information to the appropriate patient record.
- Complete general day-to-day administrative duties as directed by the Practice Manager.
- Contact patients as requested by clinicians to action tasks or follow-up information recorded in the patient's notes.
- Receive patient samples for testing, ensuring patient details are checked and recorded accurately.
- Ensure reception areas are kept clean, tidy and ready for use by colleagues and patients.
- Provide a clear handover of any unresolved, outstanding or urgent matters to the appropriate colleague.
- Provide cover for colleagues during periods of annual leave or sickness as required.
- Work flexibly as part of the wider reception and administrative team to support the smooth running of the practice.
About us
We are a medium sized practice supported by an excellent clinical and administration team. We are also a GP training practice, we achieve high QOF, Bolton Quality Contract and other Enhanced Services along with working as part of the Horwich PCN.
