Job summary

The Clinical Lead for Community Surgery Incision/Excision is responsible for providing clinical leadership and oversight of a community-based minor surgery service for eligible adult patients registered with GP practices in Barking and Dagenham. The role involves assessing referrals for suitability, undertaking incision and excision procedures where required, maintaining high standards of clinical governance, and ensuring appropriate documentation, audit and follow-up.

The postholder will also support service quality and performance through self-audit and peer audit, monitoring patient safety and outcomes, contributing to monthly reporting, and ensuring that all interventions comply with the relevant Minor Surgery DES requirements.

Job description

The Clinical Lead for Community Surgery Incision/Excision will provide clinical leadership and deliver safe, effective minor surgery services for eligible adult patients in Barking and Dagenham. The role includes assessing referrals, carrying out incision and excision procedures, ensuring appropriate consent and documentation, completing audits, and maintaining compliance with the Minor Surgery DES specification. The postholder will also contribute to patient safety, service performance, reporting and continuous quality improvement.

Our four sites are located across Barking and Dagenham. However, for this role, you will be required to work exclusively at Parsloes Hub.
