Job summary

Due to growth in organisational demand, HIEM is expanding its established Operations Officer function from 1.0 WTE to 2.0 WTE. This is not a new role, but an opportunity to join an existing high-performing team, with responsibilities shared across both postholders.

You will play a central role in ensuring the smooth running of HIEM's corporate and operational functions. Initial responsibilities will focus on corporate meetings management, coordination of internal and external reporting, portfolio assurance, and support to wider corporate functions. Working closely with colleagues across the Operations Team and wider organisation, you will help drive organisational performance, governance, business systems optimisation, and reporting that demonstrates our impact. This role is offered on a 12 month fixed term/secondment basis due to our funding being confirmed on an annual cycle. As a result, the duration of this contract is subject to change should funding levels increase or decrease.

Interviews will take place face-to-face at HIEM offices in Nottingham, initially planned for w/c 2 November 2026 but may be subject to change (shortlisted candidates will be informed accordingly).

Main duties of the job

Reporting to the Head of Corporate Office, you'll have the opportunity to plan and co-ordinate programme reporting and completion of our key quarterly reports to our commissioners, have oversight of finance and budget activity, along with HR and recruitment activity across HIEM. You'll also play a key role in the coordination of working practices and policy implementation to ensure that HIEM is at all times compliant with NUH policies.

We are seeking someone who has excellent attention to detail, is organised, a great communicator and is numerate, to join our dynamic organisation. You will have a high level of administration and office management experience, knowledge of the health and care sector, and demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills.

HIEM is a hybrid working organisation with staff working a combination of home and office working. Our office is based in Nottingham and travel across the East Midlands may also be expected as part of this role.

This role is offered as full-time on a 12 month fixed term/secondment basis and will be subject to a six month probationary period.
