Post No. EDSCH00080.5 - Reset Officer - Caerleon Comprehensive School

Caerleon Comprehensive School is seeking a highly effective and resilient individual to lead provision within our Reset Room.

Reset is a central part of our behaviour system and provides a supervised space for students who have received a sanction for failing to meet our expectations, whether through poor behaviour in lessons, around the school site, or other breaches of our Conduct Code.

We are looking for someone with a strong presence who can build respect through clear expectations, consistency and fairness. The successful candidate will be confident working with young people who may display challenging behaviour and will remain calm, professional and solution-focused in difficult situations. They will understand that behaviour is often a form of communication, whilst maintaining high standards and holding students to account for their actions.

This role requires an individual who is firm but fair, applies school policies consistently, and does not take challenging behaviour personally. They will be able to establish clear boundaries, ensure that students comply with expectations, and provide opportunities for students to reflect on their choices and make a positive fresh start following a setback.

Reset is a silent working environment where students are expected to focus on their work and refrain from interacting with others. The successful candidate will be confident in managing this environment effectively, ensuring that expectations are maintained at all times and that the room remains calm, purposeful and orderly.
While the primary purpose of the role is to oversee the day-to-day operation of Reset and maintain high standards of behaviour, the successful candidate will also work closely with pastoral leaders, teaching staff and other colleagues to ensure that students receive the appropriate support to improve their behaviour and succeed in school.

This is a role for someone who thrives on routine, consistency and high expectations, and who believes that every student can learn from mistakes when boundaries are clear, fair and consistently applied.
