Job summary
Applications are invited for a 10 PA Locum Consultant Paediatric Surgeon based at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust.
The specialty is currently led by Joe Curry and consists of 8 consultants, 4 SpRs, 4 Fellows and 6 ST1/2 equivalents, 2 PA's along with a clinic nurse specialist team.
This post will provide general and specialist paediatric surgery on an elective and emergency basis and will be part of the team providing specialist upper GI services. The general on call will be a 1 in 7 as well as a 1 in 4 Oesophageal atresia rota with support from a senior surgeon. The post would particularly suit a candidate who has recently completed full surgical training and wants to gain sub specialist experience in complex upper GI surgery.
Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust is a postgraduate teaching hospital, linked with the Institute of Child Health (ICH). The Trust has 318 beds and provides a comprehensive range of paediatric specialties for tertiary level care. The patient population consists of over 20,000 inpatients per annum and 84,000 outpatients.
All applicants must either be on the General Medical Council's specialist register or be within six months of obtaining their CCST/CCT award at the time of application.

Main duties of the job
The appointment is for a 10 PA Consultant Paediatric and Neonatal Surgeon. The surgeon, inconjunction with the current team of Specialist Paediatric and Neonatal Surgeons, will beresponsible for delivering a comprehensive surgical service at Great Ormond Street Hospital.The appointee will be expected to deliver the highest possible standards of care for patients.The successful applicant will have a commitment to the use of advanced minimal accesstechniques. They will be expected to take an active part in undergraduate and postgraduateteaching and training of health care professionals. They will work collaboratively within themulti-disciplinary teams involved in providing patient care
