Job summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in Gynae-Oncology to join our expanding Private Care Division within the Sainsbury's Wing at Hammersmith Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred private gynae-oncology services within a world-class clinical environment.

The successful candidate will primarily support private gynaecological oncology patients; however, the role will be closely integrated with the NHS Gynae-Oncology team. This unique model will foster strong collaboration between private and NHS services, ensuring seamless patient pathways, the highest standards of care, and an outstanding patient experience. Working alongside colleagues across both services will also promote shared learning, knowledge exchange, professional development, and multidisciplinary collaboration, ultimately benefiting both patients and staff.

As a CNS, you will provide expert specialist nursing care, advanced clinical assessment, and holistic support to patients throughout their treatment journey. Working closely with consultants, the multidisciplinary team, and the Private Care leadership team, you will drive excellence in clinical practice, service development, and patient experience.

Main duties of the job

  • Deliver expert specialist nursing care for private gynaecological oncology patients across outpatient, diagnostic, procedural, and inpatient pathways.
  • Act as an autonomous practitioner undertaking advanced clinical assessments, care planning, and coordination of complex patient journeys.
  • Work collaboratively with the NHS Gynae-Oncology team to ensure integrated, safe, and effective patient care pathways.
  • Provide specialist advice, education, and psychological support to patients and their families.
  • Lead and contribute to service improvement initiatives that enhance patient safety, efficiency, and the premium private care experience.
  • Support consultant surgeons and the multidisciplinary team in delivering timely, seamless pathways, including pre-operative optimisation, post-operative reviews, and follow-up care.
  • Promote high standards of practice through clinical leadership, audit, research, and evidence-based care.
  • Deliver teaching, training, and professional development opportunities, contributing to shared learning across both NHS and private services.
  • Foster collaborative working relationships that encourage knowledge sharing, innovation, and continuous service improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, governance processes, and Trust values.
