An exciting opportunity for a Supervising Social Worker who enjoys working within a challenging, fast paced service has arisen within Foster Wales Bridgend.

The Fostering Team are part of the Cwm Taff Region and as part of our approach to recruiting additional foster carers we have developed a regional front door to ensure a timely response to any new enquiries.

We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and knowledgeable experienced Social Worker with 2 years post qualifying social work experience preferably in fostering to supervise foster carers and complete annual reviews and work within the regulatory requirements and legislation

The role will involve proactively supporting the recruitment of foster carers in line with the Fostering regulatory requirements and good practice. There will be opportunities to develop your assessment skills by undertaking Form F assessments and annual reviews of foster carers.

This role is ideal for anyone wanting to progress in their carer as the role involves undertaking supervision of foster carers, supporting their learning and development and reviewing their support needs. All of which are key in developing further leadership skills for people wanting to take the next steps in their career.

You will be involved with our developing peer support for foster carers by attending support groups, attend/organise support and development workshops for foster carers. You will also play a key role in supporting the retention of carers by supporting events for carers and the children in their care at key times of the year and supporting consultation events.

The role will involve collaborative working across all the Childrens teams within the Local Authority, in particular the Care Experienced Team who support children looked after and the 15+ team. We also work closely with the Kinship and Permanence Team who support Connected Persons foster carers and Special Guardians and share the duty rota across the service.

We are a small and friendly team with good learning and development opportunities for staff to progress their career aspirations.

The fostering service has a placement support team attached to it which provides out of hours support and bespoke support to the fostering and SGO community across the borough. We also have a reunification team who undertake work with children whose plan is for reunification back to birth family and who undertake life journey work.

We also have access to a behaviour analyst to support the service along with specialist training in trauma informed approaches and supporting transitions for children.
