Do you want to play a leading role in shaping transportation policy and investment in Bridgend County Borough Council? If so, we would welcome your application.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably experienced professional to take a principal role within the Strategic Transportation function at Bridgend, based within the Planning and Development Services Group. This is a key post working at the interface of transport policy, planning and delivery, helping to shape how people move around the borough now and in the future.

The role is responsible for researching, developing, implementing and monitoring the Authority’s transportation policies and strategies in the context of national, regional and local guidance. This includes contributing to development plan work, supporting the active travel programme, preparing submissions and bids for Welsh Government and regional transport funding, and helping to develop and deliver the wider strategic transport programme.

The post holder will provide specialist advice on strategic transport and highway matters, including the transport implications of development, and will work closely with colleagues across highways development control, planning, regeneration and regional partners. The role also involves attending site visits, meetings with stakeholders and elected members, public engagement where required, and contributing to the mentoring and support of junior officers within the wider team.

The successful candidate will have significant experience and a strong working knowledge of transport policy, highway matters and land use planning at a local, regional or national level. You will be confident working in a complex environment, able to exercise sound professional judgement, and comfortable balancing strategic thinking with practical delivery.

For an informal discussion about the role please contact: Leigh Tuck Strategic Transport and Highways Development Control Team Leader 01656 642504.

Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.

A valid driving licence is requirement for this post.
