This role is for a fixed term NHS Locum Specialty Old Age Psychiatrist to provide medical leadership for the Kitwood and Roding inpatient wards based at St Margaret's Hospital Epping Essex. The Doctor will provide medical leadership for the multidisciplinary team comprising of resident doctors, ward nursing team, psychiatrists, CPN's, OT and psychologist.
Kitwood ward Consultant and Roding Ward Consultant will provide direct line management and clinical supervision.
The post holder will be expected to work closely with the ward managers and the wider MDT to provide a safe and effective service. The post holder will also be expected to work closely with the relevant community teams and contribute to providing an effective care pathway for patients across the service.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will have responsibility for the clinical care of those patients admitted to the in-patient unit on the ward. The post holder will also be expected to work closely with the team and the ward manager to ensure the provision of an effective service.

The post holder will have the opportunity to actively participate in clinical governance activities.
The post holder will have resident doctors working with them and will be expected to provide some clinical supervision for them as appropriate in addition to the ward RC. The post holder will be working with 2.0 WTE FY1 doctors on Kitwood Ward and 3.0 WTE FY1 doctors on Roding Ward.
The post holder will provide medical input to the Liaison Psychiatry Team at St Margarets Hospital which receives referrals from medical rehab wards based at the Epping Forest Unit. This involves discussing and supervising assessments carried out by the team and providing medical input as appropriate, including issuing prescriptions where necessary and occasionally carrying out face-to-face assessments. This role is not expected to be more than 1 PA per week
