An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Registered Mental Health Nurses to join our dynamic and committed teams

Highbury Hospital is an acute mental health hospital with mental illness and/or personality disorder.

Main duties of the job

To actively support the Ward Manager in fulfilling all the Key Result Areas and Responsibilities associated with their Clinical/Management Role. To assess, implement, and evaluate care programs for individual patients, providing professional knowledge and skills.Practices which foster and develop multi-disciplinary working will be implemented in all aspects of clinical practice.

The role requires RMN Nurse with current registration with the nursing and Midwifery council who will deliver nursing care to patients in line with specified standards within a secure clinical setting.. To deputise in absence of a senior manager.. To lead a team of staff within adult mental health services.To promote and maintain high standards of care through communication, motivation, supervision and role modelling.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.

Job description

To assess, design, implement and evaluate safe, creative and effective treatment plans in collaboration with the patients diverse needs, their carers and other professionals.

Responsible for the safe monitoring, management and administration of medication as required by Trust policy.

To obtain and interpret physical Healthcare and act appropriately to observations.

To maintain safeguarding responsibilities for children and vulnerable adults in line with Trust policy, and Local Authority procedure and guidance, including making timely child and adult safeguardingEvidence of awareness and completion of relevant assessments. Individual care plans which are specific to areas of need and are evidence based.

Appropriate professional and agreed criteria are met.Nursing 1099 v1.4 Oct 2025referrals, as required.

Interventions will be evidence based and designed to reduce stress and anxiety, manage risk and aid recovery.

To maintain accurate, timely and relevant clinical records both written and computerised. To maintaining the safe custody of healthcare records.

To be aware of and apply the principles on infection prevention and control and to comply with policy, procedure and guidance.To obtain and interpret physical Healthcare observations.Demonstrate and be responsible for the safe application of relevant, up-to-date legislation including the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty, safeguarding etc.Ongoing professional nursing leadership within a multi-disciplinary team.

Compliance with best practice directions (NICE) and participation in quality and safety initiatives.

To access and provide clinical supervision to maintain competency and deliver best quality patient care.

To undertake any other duties that would be a reasonable expectation of the role.
