Job summary

Harrogate District Hospital are keen to recruit for a BSE Level 2 Accredited Highly Specialised Echocardiographer. Part-time and flexible working proposals will be considered. We are a District General Hospital with a busy Cardiology service providing a wide range of general Cardiology investigations. Our active Echocardiography service currently comprises of Adult TTE, TOEs, Bubble Contrast studies, Contrast studies, an upcoming exercise Stress Echo service and very soon, an exciting Physiologist led Valve Clinic running alongside a Consultant led Valve Clinic. We also train ETP students.

As a positive and supportive management team, we are open to any working patterns that support the role which can be discussed on appointment. There is no on call commitment however the successful candidate will be expected to rotate to the CDC hub at Ripon and in the future, a newly refurbished Harrogate CDC hub.

Main duties of the job

  • Independently perform high-quality ultrasound scans on a range of outpatients, inpatients, urgent and specialist pathways.

Formulate detailed Echo reports to be personally verified and issued to consultants.

You will work to British Society of Echocardiography standards and adhere to all protocols and guidelines of the society.

Vetting and triage of Echocardiogram referrals including GP and consultant referrals.

Contribute to audit, quality assurance, BSE accreditation, clinical governance, and the continuous improvement of Echocardiography services.

Undertake clinical supervision and training of junior and trainee physiology staff and other professional groups e.g. doctors.

Assist in the development of new pathways and advanced imaging techniques to ensure a modern, efficient and patient-centered service.

Work with Team Leaders and the Service Manager in further developing the clinical physiology service where required.

Maintain professional registration at all times (e.g. RCCP/AHCS).

Be responsible for the care and maintenance of the ultrasound equipment and report any issues in a timely manner.
