Job summary
The above appointment in Acute Medicine, covering Winter pressures, is to commence ASAP for a fixed term period until 31 March 2027. MBBS or equivalent is essential. This post does not award a National Training Number, as it is not recognised as a 'training post'. Full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise is required. If the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK, sponsorship will be required and supported. The duties of the posts are equivalent to FY2/ST1 level, Nodal Point 2-3, depending on evidenced competencies and experience in the NHS.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will work part of the AMU team supporting the care we provide to patients by a mix of duties. Typically roles will be rostered between Acute Take, Post-Take and SDEC duties with supervision and support from the Consultant Acute Physicians who are typically resident 8.30am until 9pm (Monday - Friday) and the Acute Medicine Registrars.
- Acute Take /SDEC (0830 - 1630) - Supporting the acute medicine take and working with the Consultant Acute Physicians and Acute Medicine Registrars. Assessing and treating patients in AMU and the ED and working with senior clinicians in providing early specialist care.
- Post Take (0830 - 1630) - Supporting the Consultant Acute Physicians Post Take ward rounds on AMU including assessing, discussing and reviewing patients with the team, performing clinical procedures, such as lumbar punctures, and conducting the jobs collected from the rounds
The successful candidate will work along with team resident doctors as part the Acute Medicine Team. 1in 4 weekends and 0830 to 1630 weekdays, standard shifts, no on calls.
