We have an exciting opportunity for a Substance Misuse Nurse to join our Substance Misuse team at HMP Leicester, a category B Prison located in Leicestershire

HMP Leicester is a male prison with a capacity of approximately 320 prisoners. It is a busy but relatively small local remand prison, located in the city centre.   The Substance Misuse Nurse will have an interest in working within Substance Misuse Services and supporting individuals with drug and alcohol-related issues. The role will involve training in reception, drug and alcohol issues, healthcare and clinical care, with clinical work taking place in rooms on the prison wing. HMP Leicester Offers:

  • City Centre Based

Hours

  • Monday - Sunday
  • 37.5 hours per week
  • 8am - 4pm
  • 1 weekend in 3
  • Rota's are done 1 month in advance

Salary

This position is full time, youll receive an annual salary is between £34,428 - £41,659 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

As a Substance Misuse Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will

  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, prioritising patient care to develop individualised packages of care through comprehensive assessment and recovery planning
  • Deliver a range of treatment options including clinical and psychosocial interventions in both a group and 1-1 setting with recovery at the centre of our healthcare wellbeing model
  • Be able to carry out comprehensive assessments, initiate and review individual recovery plans and confidently communicate the full range of treatment options available to service users.
  • Monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects and liaise with prescribers. You will work with individuals, on a 1-1 basis, providing advice and information
  • Support in group work delivery and liaise with prescribers and Recovery Practitioners on clinical interventions. You will occasionally be required to support dispensing
  • Have an understanding and commitment to recovery and a person centred approach.

  • NMC Registered - Adult or Mental Health
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD).
