Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Social Worker to join our Safeguarding Hub!
The role:
Working closely with adults across RBWM, you will fulfil the duties and responsibilities of Senior Social Worker based within the Safeguarding Adults Hub, to oversee the team and support with the screening and triage of new Safeguarding referrals from partner agencies to assess if the criteria for S42 enquiry has been met. The team raise and respond to Safeguarding concerns; liaising with multi agency partners and working in collaboration with the person to manage levels of risk and implement a protection plan through the S42 process. The Senior has a key role in ensuring the performance and best practice of the team; supervising social workers and social care practitioners in this regard.
This role is based within the Safeguarding Adults Hub, which is a lively and vibrant team promoting Best Practice and Service Excellence.
Main duties of the job
- The responsibility for the professional development, supervision and performance of Safeguarding Hub staff designated for supervision including staff from other disciplines and social work students as required and appropriate.
- Ensuring that appropriate safeguarding processes are in place for vulnerable adults working within the requirements of relevant legislation, the national agenda, and the Policies and Procedures of RBWM as appropriate to the responsibilities of the post.
- To manage a caseload including complex assessments and casework.
- To chair meetings including Adult Safeguarding, Risk Frameworks, Best Interests, and professionals meetings.
- To respond to duty queries and requests from practitioners and partner agencies supporting clinical decision making and providing case advise; providing guidance and case direction for wider social care staff in collaboration with the Safeguarding Manager.
This role will report to the Safeguarding Manager who will provide monthly supervision and reflective spaces for shared learning opportunities. The team promotes an open learning culture, positive risk taking and the delivery of a high standard of service to our residents.

To deliver statutory services to people who have eligible care needs, by providing outcome focused assessments, and then facilitate the delivery of those identified services through care and support plans to achieve desired outcomes to meet the needs of the individual.
To provide supervision and support to other members of the team to ensure people are achieving excellence in their roles and they are developing their skills and knowledge.
To work flexibly as part of the management team to ensure the team is delivering a high standard of service to our residents.
You will be able to lead on projects, be proactive, work flexibly and help us to achieve our aim for continuing improvement.
The Social Work Teams support residents. The RBWM provides a range of support and care services for older people, adults with a learning and physical disability and people with mental health needs both in the community and at home.
Tasks include undertaking various statutory duties in relation to the Care Act 2014, the Mental Capacity Act 2005, the Mental Health Act 1993, the Data Protection Act 1998, the Human Rights Act 1998, and other relevant legislation.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To be responsible for the professional development and supervision of all staff designated for supervision including staff from other disciplines, agencies, and social work students as required and appropriate.
2.To manage and be accountable, with supervision and support, for own practice and to take responsibility for own professional development.
3.To ensure that appropriate safeguarding processes are in place for vulnerable adults.
4.To manage a caseload including complex assessments and casework.
5.To represent and be able to make decisions on behalf of RBWM including work in multi-agency settings.
6.To understand budget management and work within RBWMs budgetary constraints.
7. To chair meetings including Adult Safeguarding, Risk Frameworks, Best Interests, and professionals meetings.
8. To contribute positively to the performance of the team and the service, by being aware of, and contributing to achieving key performance targets.
9. To assist in the collection of data that demonstrates levels of performance and supports good performance management.
10. To work within the requirements of relevant legislation, the national agenda, and the Policies and Procedures of RBWM as appropriate to the responsibilities of the post.
11. Undertake any other legal duties assigned to you as part of Council business.
About us
This is a full-time permanent role with hybrid working and a salary of £47,831 - £52,414 per annum plus an annual retention bonus of £3,000 subject to eligibility. We are open to job share and part-time applicants.
