Same Day Emergency Care Charge Nurse - Band 6NHS
Job summary
We are seeking an organised, motivated and proactive Band 6 Charge Nurse to join our team. The post holder will play a key role in coordinating day-to-day operational activities, supporting service delivery and ensuring effective communication across multidisciplinary teams.
The Band 6 Charge Nurse will be responsible for managing workflows, monitoring performance against service targets and supporting the implementation of service improvements. They will act as a central point of contact for staff, patients and external partners, ensuring that services are delivered efficiently, safely and in line with organisational policies and standards.
Hours per week: 24

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, problem-solving and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. They will support team members, contribute to quality improvement initiatives and ensure accurate reporting and documentation.
This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively to maintain high standards of patient care and service delivery.
Job Summary
Is designated to take charge of the department, on a regular basis.
Is responsible for the co-ordination of all patient and nursing staff activities.
Is required to triage and assess patients to establish appropriateness for ambulatory services.
Is required to provide support to the senior nursing staff and Matron, participating fully in the development of initiatives which support the improvement of patient care.
Liaise with Matron, Directorate Manager, and senior colleagues as needed.
Deliver care in line with legal, ethical and professional standards, including safeguarding, information governance and consent.
Actively participate in annual appraisal and development planning and undertake any training identified through this process.
Follow all Trust and departmental policies including health and safety, infection control, confidentiality and data protection.
