We're seeking a motivated and patient-focused Specialist Pharmacist -- Cancer & Technical Services to join our dynamic Pharmacy Team at Musgrove Park Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to influence the safe and effective delivery of cancer treatments while developing your specialist clinical and technical expertise within a supportive and forward-thinking NHS organisation.
As part of our Cancer and Technical Services team, you'll play a key role in ensuring the safe provision of Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) to patients across Somerset. Working closely with pharmacists, technicians, nurses, consultants and wider multidisciplinary teams, you will help deliver high-quality pharmaceutical care while supporting the ongoing development of our cancer and aseptic services.
Main duties of the job
This varied and rewarding position combines specialist cancer pharmacy, aseptic services and clinical pharmacy practice. You'll be involved in:
- Providing specialist pharmaceutical support for cancer and aseptic services.
- Clinical screening and verification of chemotherapy and other specialist treatments.
- Supporting the safe and efficient delivery of SACT and CIVAS services.
- Delivering high-quality clinical pharmacy services to wards and departments.
- Working within multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient outcomes.
- Supporting medicines optimisation, formulary management and evidence-based prescribing.
- Participating in service development, audit, research and quality improvement initiatives.
- Providing education, training and mentorship to pharmacists, technicians and pharmacy students.
- Developing and utilising independent prescribing skills where appropriate.
Our Cancer and Technical Services Pharmacy Team is responsible for the safe supply of almost 20,000 injectable cancer treatments each year.
