Job summary
Serving people with learning disabilities in the London Borough of Hackney, the Hackney Integrated Learning Disability Team is an integrated health and social caremultidisciplinary service. The service is committed to facilitation and liaison with local health andsocial care provider services in order that people with learning disabilities can access mainstreamservices where possible and that their experience and outcomes are good. Additionally, the serviceprovides specialist input to clients where this is required.
Main duties of the job
Providing a highly specialist clinical psychology service to people with learning disability and their families/carers including assessment, development and implementation of specialist psychological interventions, the post holder will develop a key role in the Hackney Integrated Learning Disability Service. The postholder will contribute to the continuing development of psychology andof the service.Acting autonomously the postholder will manage a defined caseload of complex casesindependently, evidencing problem solving and clinical reasoning skills in line with evidence basedand client-centred principles. S/he will be involved in clinical research and development whereappropriate.
Job description
1. Ensure a high standard of clinical care for the clients and those of more junior staff providinga comprehensive and appropriate psychology service to clients, families and carers2. Play a key role in the advanced assessment and treatment of clients who may have acute,chronic or complex presentation and determine clinical diagnosis and intervention required3. Assess clients needs and direct to other services as appropriate4. Maintain records as an autonomous practitioner5. Communicate effectively with health and social care professionals and outside agenciesregarding client care and progress6. Communicate with other members of the Team regarding policies, service development andmanagement plans7. Undertake a significant clinical caseload working under supervision in collaboration withother agencies and health and social care professionals
