Are you an experienced Sterile Services Technician looking to take the next step in your career? We're looking for a Senior Sterile Services Technician to join our team at Practice Plus Group Hospital Shepton Mallet.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of a safe, effective and high-quality decontamination and sterile supplies service. Working within a dedicated team, you'll help ensure that surgical instruments and medical devices are prepared to the highest standards, supporting excellent patient outcomes and maintaining our commitment to clinical excellence.
As our Senior Sterile Services Technician, you'll support the Deputy Sterile Services Manager in the day-to-day running of the department, ensuring medical devices are cleaned, inspected, assembled, sterilised and distributed safely and efficiently.
You'll undertake a hands-on role whilst also providing supervision, guidance and support to colleagues across the department. This position offers excellent opportunities to further develop your leadership skills while contributing to a service that is critical to the smooth operation of the hospital.
Main duties of the job
As our Senior Sterile Services Technician, you will be:
- Supporting the delivery of a safe and effective decontamination and sterile supplies service.
- Cleaning, checking, assembling, packing, sterilising and distributing medical devices.
- Conducting quality checks to ensure instruments and equipment are fit for purpose.
- Supporting daily validation testing and maintaining accurate documentation and traceability records.
- Supervising, organising and allocating work within the department.
- Training and supporting new starters and existing team members.
- Liaising with theatre teams and other departments to ensure service requirements are met.
- Managing loan equipment, ensuring timely processing and collection.
- Monitoring stock levels and ordering consumables as required.
- Assisting with rota planning, governance reporting and service improvement activities.
- Supporting equipment maintenance and coordinating repairs where necessary.

About us
With your experience of working within a Sterile Services Department and/or Endoscopy Decontamination environment, you will also have:
- Experience working within a healthcare setting
- Strong understanding of sterile services processes and procedures
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to prioritise workload effectively and work under pressure
- Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams
- NVQ Level 3 in Decontamination or equivalent qualification desirable
- IDSc Membership - desirable
- Experience working in a fast-paced surgical environment - desirable
