We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic registered professional to join our Neurodevelopmental Pathway in Selby CAMHS. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a skilled multidisciplinary team delivering specialist Autism diagnostic assessments for children and young people.
The successful candidate will play a key role within our assessment pathway, undertaking specialist assessments, contributing to multidisciplinary formulation and supporting timely, child-centred diagnostic decision making. We welcome applications from Nursing professionals with current NMC registration.
Candidates must have 18 months post qualifying experience including sign off of appropriate preceptorship or competency framework at the point of application.
This role offers the opportunity to develop specialist skills within neurodevelopmental assessment, working alongside experienced clinicians and contributing to a service committed to continual improvement and compassionate care. Experience of Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2) and Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R) assessments is desirable, although training and development opportunities may be available for the right candidate.
Main duties of the job
As part of the Neurodevelopmental Pathway team, you will predominantly contribute to the assessment and diagnostic process for children and young people presenting with suspected Autism.
Your responsibilities will include undertaking developmental and parental interviews, completing neurodevelopmental screening assessments, conducting ADOS-2 assessments and gathering information from educational settings and partner agencies. You will work closely with families, schools and multidisciplinary colleagues to develop a comprehensive understanding of each child's strengths, needs and presentation.
The role may also involve undertaking school observations where appropriate, contributing to multidisciplinary team discussions and supporting formulation and diagnostic decision making. A key aspect of the post is producing high-quality assessment reports that clearly communicate findings and recommendations to families, education professionals and partner agencies.
You will be supported by an experienced clinical team and will contribute to a culture of learning, collaboration and service improvement.
Job description
The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary Neurodevelopmental Pathway providing specialist assessment and diagnostic services for children and young people.
Key responsibilities include:
Undertaking detailed developmental and parental interviews to explore autism and neurodevelopmental presentations, including use of structured assessment tools such as the ADI-R.
Conducting specialist observational assessments, including ADOS-2 assessments where trained and competent to do so.
Completing neurodevelopmental screening assessments and gathering clinical information from multiple sources.
Working collaboratively with children, young people, families, schools and partner agencies to inform assessment and formulation.
Contributing to multidisciplinary discussions, formulation meetings and diagnostic panels.
Producing high-quality assessment reports that clearly communicate outcomes and recommendations.
Maintaining accurate clinical records and working in accordance with professional, clinical governance and organisational requirements.
Contributing to service development and quality improvement initiatives within the Neurodevelopmental Pathway.
