The Isle of Wight Council has a range of responsibilities under DoLS and the Mental Capacity Act as a Supervisory Body and this post will support the DoLS Team in managing and developing systems that ensure the Council’s duties are effectively discharged.

The duties will include managing email and telephone enquiries, DoLS requests, and allocation for assessments, authorisations of DoLS, and termination of authorisations as needed; developing and maintaining IT systems to support this day-to-day work; and the collection and analysis of data for both local and national data returns. Knowledge of the relevant legislation within Adult Social Care is essential, such as the Care Act, the Mental Capacity Act, the Mental Health Act and the DoLS legal framework, as the Coordinator’s role is key to the processes that enable the team and department to meet the requirements of these.  Attention to detail, prioritisation of work and effectively being able to manage a complex spreadsheet is essential.

In return monthly supervision is provided with monthly DoLS Coordinator meetings, Team Meetings and other regular support from colleagues in the team and the wider department.
