The Highway Network Department, within the Communities Directorate, are seeking a Coal Tip technician to in the development Coal Tip Asset Management Plans and have a pivotal role in assisting in the delivery of the Authority’s role and responsibilities in relation to The Disused Mine and Quarry Tips (Wales) Act 2025. within the Bridgend County Borough.
You will be part of a newly created team within the Authority for a 3 year fixed term, to oversee, Coal Tip Maintenance throughout the County Borough
The role will require allow you to develop an understanding of the maintenance practices available to maintain coal tips, structures and drainage features, and will include:
- To assist in the development and review of maintenance plans for Bridgend County Borough Councils Disused Mines and Quarry Tip land holdings
- To assist by providing information to the Disused Mine and Quarry Tips Engineer in the preparation, collating and reporting of the Disused Mine and Quarry Tips maintenance inspections undertaken by BCBC staff and others
- Collate and record the inspection records for the Disused Mine and Quarry Tips inspections
- Assist the Disused Mine and Quarry Tips Engineer in the preparation of a works programme for remedial works
- Assist in the management and control of BCBC land assets, including Disused Mine and Quarry Tips, assigned to Highways Network Management Team.
- Carry out inspections of Disused Mine and Quarry Tips as required and attend site meeting with those undertaking inspections for Welsh Government
The applicant must have knowledge/understanding of the specific duties identified in this pack. Must be able to work well as part of a team and communicate effectively with colleagues, external companies and members of the public.
