Highway Maintenance Team, Waterton Depot, Waterton

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Highway Maintenance Team of the Communities Directorate who are seeking an Engineering Technician with knowledge and experience of working in a highway Network environment. This is an ideal opportunity to expand your knowledge of the maintenance requirements of the highway asset, and other associated functions including contract management, involvement with the multitude of disciplines required to maintain a complex Highway Network Infrastructure.

The role will require an understanding of the highway, its role within a community and methods of repair. The position will require you to:

- Identify defects within the highway and identify possible repair options

- Collate information from highway databases and present in a report.

- Participation in the Highways Departments out of normal working hours call out system to resolve issues on the highway network.

- Investigate queries and referrals regarding the highway network and prepare responses in relation to proposed actions

- Investigate claims against the Authority for accidents that have occurred to third parties

- Monitor and supervise minor maintenance contracts.

The applicant must have experience in undertaking the duties identified in this pack.

You will need to have good arithmetical skills and must be able to work well as part of a team and communicate effectively with colleagues, external companies and members of the public.

The ability to greet customers through the medium of Welsh is a requirement for this post.

Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.

A valid driving licence is requirement for this post.

A Health Surveillance assessment through our Occupational Health Service is a requirement for this post.

Weekend Working, Standby Duties, Emergency Response and Winter Maintenance are a requirement of this post.
