North London NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Band 7 Lead Occupational Therapist to join The Beacon Centre, our specialist Tier 4 CAMHS inpatient service for young people with complex mental health needs. This is a unique opportunity to shape and lead Occupational Therapy within a highly specialist multidisciplinary environment while making a lasting difference to the lives of young people and their families.

We are looking for a motivated and dynamic Occupational Therapist who is passionate about improving outcomes for young people and developing services.

You will bring:

  • HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Significant post-registration experience working with people with complex mental health needs.
  • Experience of leadership, supervision and workforce development.
  • Excellent clinical reasoning and risk management skills.
  • Experience of service improvement, audit or quality improvement work.
  • A commitment to evidence-based, person-centred and occupation-focused practice.

Main duties of the job

As the Lead Occupational Therapist, you will provide clinical, professional and operational leadership for the Occupational Therapy service. You will lead a dedicated Occupational Therapy team, contribute to the Senior Management Team, and play a key role in driving service development, quality improvement and innovation across the service.

You will deliver highly specialist Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention for young people experiencing complex mental health difficulties, while supporting the multidisciplinary team through consultation, training and practice-based learning.

  • Lead and develop Occupational Therapy services within a specialist Tier 4 CAMHS setting.
  • Shape innovative, occupation-focused and evidence-based practice.
  • Influence service development and strategic decision-making.
  • Lead and develop a skilled Occupational Therapy workforce.
  • Drive quality improvement, service evaluation and research activity.
  • Work alongside experienced professionals across nursing, psychology, psychiatry, family therapy, social work and education.
