Make a difference to homes, communities and lives

Are you an organised administrator with a passion for excellent customer service and a talent for keeping complex information on track? Bassetlaw District Council is looking for a proactive, detail-focused Disrepair Team Administrator to join our Housing Repairs and Maintenance service.

This is an opportunity to help residents live in safe, warm and well-maintained homes. You will coordinate housing condition and disrepair cases, maintain accurate case records, support statutory compliance and keep tenants and professional stakeholders informed from first contact through to completion.

Working alongside the Disrepair Team Leader, surveyors, repairs colleagues and specialist teams, you will help progress housing repairs, damp and mould concerns, property access and remedial works. Your work will support timely outcomes, strong information governance and compliance with the Pre-Action Protocol for Housing Conditions Claims (England).

Your administration will help turn complex cases into clear actions and better outcomes for tenants.

What you'll be doing
  • Receive tenant enquiries, complete initial assessments, risk triage, and identify vulnerability, urgent repairs or health and safety concerns.
  • Raise, prioritise and allocate housing disrepair and housing condition cases using digital case management systems.
  • Maintain accurate electronic records, milestones, risk flags, statutory deadlines and audit-ready case notes.
  • Monitor damp and mould investigations, housing repairs, remedial works and property access, escalating risks or avoidable delays promptly.
  • Prepare professional correspondence, reports, evidence packs and document bundles, and issue completion certificates when works conclude.
  • Liaise clearly and sensitively with tenants, claimant solicitors, authorised third parties, surveyors, contractors and internal stakeholders.
  • Support service performance reporting, meetings, purchase orders, invoices and wider repairs administration.
What we're looking for

You will bring a calm, organised and customer-focused approach, with the confidence to manage competing priorities and communicate professionally with people who may be distressed or vulnerable.

  • Strong administration, organisation and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and experience maintaining accurate electronic records.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, with a professional and empathetic approach.
  • Experience handling confidential or sensitive information appropriately and in line with GDPR and information governance requirements.
  • Experience providing administrative support in a housing, repairs, legal, regulatory, property services or similarly structured environment.
  • The ability to prioritise work, monitor deadlines and escalate risks appropriately.

Knowledge you can bring or develop

Knowledge of social housing, housing repairs, housing compliance, Awaab’s Law, damp and mould, or housing condition and disrepair claims would be advantageous. We also welcome applicants with transferable case management, legal administration, customer service or compliance administration experience who are keen to build specialist housing knowledge.

Why join Bassetlaw District Council?

You will join a collaborative public service team focused on property standards, tenant wellbeing and continuous improvement. The role offers meaningful work, broad stakeholder contact and the opportunity to develop expertise across housing administration, repairs coordination, regulatory compliance and case management.
