Teenage Pregnancy - Senior Community Family Support Worker

The post holder will lead the support provided for teenage mothers, babies & young families and assist in the co-ordination of care for families with complex needs and safeguarding procedures.

Support may include provision of practical help, arranging accommodation, helping with travel for families, and assisting with liaison with agencies.

More complex support may be required such as caring for parents with additional and complex needs, assisting and making complex safe guarding referrals. The post holder will lead the Right Help, Right Times framework, Early Help Programme and support families in times of challenge and stress and liaise with Health and Social Service providers.

Main duties of the job

The candidate will need to be able to:

• Build trust with young parents
• Be trauma-informed
• Non-Judgmental
• Be culturally and religiously aware
• Be aware of honor-based abuse and how to refer to agencies for support
• Be able to risk assess for exploitation (CSE) and grooming
• Be able to support young women experiencing domestic abuse
• Support with providing antenatal education and transition to parenthood
• Be flexible with service provision for parents in education
• Be able to support young families with building independent living skills and offer housing support
• Be able to signpost young families to services that can help with finances and benefits
• Be able to liaise with the specialist midwives, perinatal mental health midwives and safeguarding team
