Job summary

The postholder will provide comprehensive managerial, operational and administrative support to the Service Manager and General Manager, ensuring that key performance, quality and financial objectives are achieved and that services are developed in line with divisional business plans. The role will support the day-to-day management of Maternity, Obstetric and Neonatal Services, contributing to performance monitoring, workforce management, service improvement initiatives, governance processes and the delivery of high-quality patient care.

The postholder will be responsible for coordinating and maintaining medical staffing rotas, including processing locum requests, authorising and submitting timesheets for payment, updating HealthRoster with sickness absence, annual leave and study leave.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide operational management support across the service, including the supervision and management of administrative staff, ensuring completion of appraisals and compliance with mandatory training requirements. Working closely with the Service Manager and Assistant General Manager, they will support performance management arrangements, ensuring robust processes are in place to monitor and achieve agreed service targets. The role will involve resolving day-to-day operational issues, reallocating workloads to meet changing service demands, supporting governance activities including audits, complaints, incidents, risk management and health and safety, and contributing to the monitoring of budgets and service performance. In addition, the post holder will represent the service at meetings as required, oversee medical staffing administration processes including locum requests and timesheet approvals, maintain Health Roster records, manage leave and sickness reporting, and ensure rota information is accurate and up to date to support safe and effective service delivery.
