Newport City Council Children’s Services are seeking qualified Social Workers to join our Safeguarding HUB during an exciting period of growth. As we expand our workforce to meet increasing demand, this is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking, supportive service focused on protecting children and strengthening families.

In this role, you will undertake assessment and investigation work, delivering timely, high-quality interventions to children who are at risk or in need of care and support. You’ll work within a collaborative, multi-agency environment, contributing to positive outcomes for children and their families.

This role plays a vital part in safeguarding children and supporting families to achieve positive, sustainable outcomes. By providing early, effective assessments and interventions, you will help ensure children remain safe and supported within their communities.

Working within a person-centred and strengths-based service, you will contribute to a shared goal: enabling families to safely stay together wherever possible, while improving overall wellbeing.

What You'll Do

• Conduct assessments and investigations in line with safeguarding procedures
• Deliver timely and effective short-term interventions for children at risk or in need
• Engage quickly and effectively with children, families and service users
• Build and maintain strong partnerships across multi-agency networks
• Contribute to person-centred, strengths-based planning to achieve wellbeing outcomes
• Work collaboratively within a supportive team environment with regular supervision

What You’ll Need

• A recognised social work qualification (DipSW, CQSW, CSS or equivalent)
• Registration with Social Care Wales (or ability to transfer from HCPC or equivalent)
• Strong assessment and analytical skills
• Ability to build effective relationships with families and professionals
• Experience (or confidence) in multi-agency working
• A commitment to safeguarding children and improving outcomes for families
