Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join Moorfields Eye Hospital at a pivotal time in our journey. As we prepare for the implementation of a new Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system and our future move to a new state-of-the-art hospital building, we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Divisional Manager to support the Access Operations Directorate through this period of significant transformation.

Working alongside an experienced Assistant Divisional Manager and reporting to the Divisional Manager, this newly created 12-month fixed term post will play a key role in ensuring operational stability while helping to deliver service improvements that will shape the future of patient access across the Trust.

The role will have a particular focus on our Booking Centre functions, including referral registration, appointment booking, waiting list management and responding to patient enquiries. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys problem-solving, and wants to contribute to meaningful organisational change while supporting frontline services.

This is a challenging but rewarding role. There is plenty to do, ambitious transformation programmes underway, and significant opportunities to make a real difference to patients, staff and services.

Main duties of the job

As Assistant Divisional Manager, you will support the operational delivery and continuous improvement of Access Operations services, ensuring patients receive a responsive, efficient and high-quality service.

You will work closely with clinical, operational and corporate colleagues to support day-to-day service delivery while helping to implement key transformation initiatives across the Directorate.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting operational performance across Access Operations services, including waiting list and access targets.
  • Providing leadership and management to Booking Centre teams, supporting managers and staff to deliver high-quality services.
  • Leading and supporting service improvement projects to enhance efficiency, patient experience and operational performance.
  • Supporting delivery of the Trust's Electronic Patient Record programme and wider organisational transformation activities.
  • Contributing to workforce planning, staff development and employee relations matters.
  • Supporting budget management, business planning and financial performance.
  • Monitoring service risks, incidents and complaints, ensuring appropriate actions and learning are embedded.
  • Building effective relationships with clinical and non-clinical stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Deputising for the Divisional Manager where required.

This role offers significant exposure to operational leadership, programme delivery and service transformation.
