Job summary

We are seeking to recruit a qualified practitioner (EMHP/CWP) who is committed to the principles of CYP-PT. This role offers an opportunity for the post-holder to further progress their career into a senior practitioner role, extending the clinical skillset of CWPs and EMHPs by providing specialist training in a broader range of presentations. In addition to managing their own caseload, the candidate will be expected to provide supervision to CWPs and/or EMHPs for low-intensity interventions following training.

The post-holder will work with young people from diverse backgrounds and should be committed to diversity and ensuring access to services for all.

Applicants will need to be ready to start work by early January 2027, with training commencing on the 29th. Posts cannot be offered to candidates unless they can guarantee this start date.

Main duties of the job

  • Delivering evidence-based interventions to children and young people in education settings as part of early identification and intervention for children and young people with emotional and mental health needs.
  • To provide advice, support and knowledge to children and their families in relation to appropriate resources for their emotional wellbeing needs.
  • To take responsibility for liaising with practice leads and other practitioners in the team to support effective clinical governance, risk and safety protocols and best practice principles to support improvement alongside young-person centred care.
  • To support development and delivery of psychoeducational workshops, webinars and groups for young people, parents/carers and school staff.
  • To develop a coordinated response to children and young peoples mental health needs by working across agencies.
  • Encourage co-production in furthering best practices.
  • Strive for quality assurance in data returns for both qualitative and quantitative service evaluations.
  • Provide supervision to CWPs and/or EMHPs (from the second year of the programme).

Job description

Key Responsibilities

  • The candidate will be responsible for fulfilling the course requirements (see course brochure).
  • Maintaining confidentiality and following data protection, health and safety and IT guidelines.
  • The candidate will inform their supervisor/manager and university of any absences.
  • The candidate will be present on site on non-university days using leave allowances as agreed.
  • Keep accurate and appropriate records, providing information for monitoring and evaluation as required.
  • Participate in, and actively contribute to, individual supervision, training and team meetings as required.
  • Work in accordance with West London Minds MHST objectives and values.
  • Comply with all organisational policies and procedures, including the Code of Conduct in particular to ensure safe, fair and responsible working practices.
  • Work at all times to promote equality, diversity and individual rights.
  • Work alongside and ensure active service user participation in all aspects of work, including monitoring of activities.

Practise and supervision responsibilities

  • Deliver specialist evidence based therapeutic interventions with a caseload of children and families whilst keeping up to date with current training and practice.
  • Provide support and guidance to others with the aim of improving skills, knowledge and the facilitation of reflective practice.
  • Undertake assessments with young people and parents which identify areas where the young person wishes to see change.
  • Identify, monitor and manage risk to self and others in every contact with a client.
  • Manage own workload, with support from supervision.
  • Contribute to evaluation of all areas of service delivery and intervention outcomes.
  • To engage in best practice principles for professional supervision.
  • Fully utilise the purpose and function of supervision to maximise personal and professional growth and learning in becoming a Senior Wellbeing Practitioner, including both group and peer supervision.
  • Strive to be a good role model for positive working relationships and modelling professional behaviours that align with the values and principles of the organisation and professional body.
  • Be committed to high standards of safety and efficacy in delivery of clinical practice, that is in the best interests of children, young people and families
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the ethical, professional and best practice codes of conduct of professional registration body.

Training & Education:

  • Ensure knowledge and skills are continuously developed and maintained at a high level of competence.
  • Identify training needs through supervision and personal development plans.
  • Design and deliver training services/workshops and to take part in their evaluation.

Research and development

  • To work with others to develop practice protocols and audit tools, to collect the relevant statistical information to underpin service evaluation and record keeping.
  • To ensure all interventions are evidence based.
  • To be key in obtaining service user views and feedback on support provided to ensure the delivery of accessible provision.
  • To comply with relevant professional codes of conduct.
  • To contribute to establishing essential networks, knowledge base of resources and maintain links with relevant community organisations.
  • To contribute to identifying service needs and gaps with regard to childrens mental health and wellbeing.
  • Develop skills in service evaluation and audit to ensure the overall development of the service.
  • To maintain awareness of up-to-date research and development pertaining to advances in child and young peoples emotional wellbeing and mental health issues.
